Migration Unit!

Hi! I'm Anna Ly and today I am going to tell you about my migration unit! I hope you enjoy!

Human Migration affects communities, culture, and individuals.
That is our central idea for this unit.

I learned about Push and Pull Factors.
Push Factors is why migrants choose to go to a specific country.
Pull Factors is why migrant decide to leave a specific country.

Pull Factors:

Push Factors:

For this migration unit we chose a migrant that we wanted to tell the story of.
I chose Anh Do. He is a migrant who migrated from Vietnam to Australia when he was 3. For more information on him click here.
Note: This video was a practice and I said that he migrated from Australia to Vietnam by accident.

This unit helped me with my communication skills because we practiced in front of lot's people.

Here are some of random notes:
-An Expat is someone who lives in a country but, does not come from there.
-Some Migrants are: Mila Kunis, Tan Le…

Data Handling-Math

Hello! I'm Anna Ly. Today I will tell you about our Data Handling Unit. Enjoy!

Recently, we have been doing Data Handling.
If you don't know what data is, it's a collection of information. Data is often organised in graphs or charts for analysis and may include facts, numbers or measurements.

The task was to choose a question that you wanted to collect data about.
Then, we had to choose a partner who has a similar question than you.
Me and my friend Olivia had similar questions mine was:
How can we make sure that each person keeps in mind there multiple Intelligences?

Hers was What multiple Intelligence did everyone get?

Since our Questions were similar, we worked together. Our team name was: The Epic Mustaches
Here is our LOGO:

If you want to find your multiple intelligence go to

At the end we ended up only being able to ask Grade 5D kids what there Multiple Intelligence was.
That's why our result might of been different than the r…

Sharing The Planet Update!!

Sharing The Planet: Children's Rights

This is the last week that we are doing it.

Here are some definitions of words we used a lot in this unit.

Children's rights:
Well, rights are something people have the right to no matter age, skin color, Gender, family and beliefs.
Children's rights are like that, except for kids/children.

A circumstance is something that stops or helps you access your rights.

Equity is being fair, not equal.
If we had a basketball and it was 1st Graders vs. Basketball professionals, if it was still equal, it still wouldn't be fair right???

Ok anyways, here is my paper Mind map. What we had to do was choose a pic (Which we can't find)
Then, right about it.

Anyways, here are some facts about Children's rights.
Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs) are connected to
Children's rights!
Like, Quality Education connects to Right 23 and 28!
If you don't know about the SDGs click here:

Everyone has circumstances.

Student Led Conference

Today I am showing you my SLC.
I had it on Wednesday.
Here is my Plan:

For Math, I made a data graph. I used information from 4D's surveys.

Next, for Language and Literature I showed my dad (and sister) Fact Fragments.

Sharing the Planet:
It went really well. I showed my dad my success criteria.

Here are some other pics:

That's all! Hope you enjoyed!
(One more thing) I have a new blog called AYN's Channel! Click here if you want to check it out. I am doing it with my friend Yuzuki (Who is from The life of Yuzuki) and we have lot's of fun vids there. So check it out!

In math we are doing Data and probability!  Here is a picture of my probability scale...
My Goal was to be more focused.
To be honest, I think I kind of failed.
Sometimes, I got of topic...
My attitude was ok. Sometimes I did get bored.
You can collect data by asking people, checking books and the internet.

Thanks for reading!

I-Time Reflection

What were you trying to do or explore during iTime? Me and Yuzuki were making an underwater lighthouse. We were exploring how to make furniture and lights. What helped you make discoveries or solve problems during I-Time? Well, lots of things and people. Example: Yuzuki, Teachers like Ms. Thao and Ms. Carla, the internet and more! How did you feel during I-Time? MAD (Because me and Yuzuki had a problem), HAPPY (‘cause it was working), FRUSTRATED (ME and YN were fighting) and DETERMINED (Because I put my game face on:) What did you struggle with during I-Time? Making the lights because sometimes they kept running out of batteries!!

What were you proud of about your I-Time Project? FINISHING!!!!! What would you do differently next time during iTime? Getting the supplies earlier. We spent like, 20 minutes looking for lights!!!

Thanks for reading!!! BYE!

National museum of Vietnamese History

Hi! This is my reflection for my last unit Where we are in place and time (WWAIPAT)

For our Field trip, There were lot’s of special places. We had to choose 1. I choose The national museum of vietnamese history. If you don’t know where or what it is, click here.

Anyways, Here is my slideshow that I made with my group after the visit.

We also had to make a Persuasive writing about why our site should be a world heritage site. (a natural or man-made site, area, or structure recognized as being of outstanding international importance and therefore as deserving special protection. Sites are nominated to and designated by the World Heritage Convention (an organization of UNESCO) here is mine:

Our final assessment was to make our own criteria and use it on a object, place or thing. This is mine:
Well that’s it! Hope you enjoyed!

This week's updates!

Here is what has been going on in UNIS!
We have started a new Unit: Sharing the planet.
The central idea is:
Children's rights and responsibilitiesexist to enable equitableopportunities.

A right is something that you deserve, and what you can do.
Here are some examples of rights!
1. You have the right to have a first name.
2. You have the right to be protected from being kidnapped and sold.
3. You have the right to live with your family (If possible)

A responsibility is something you are responsible for (Ex: I'm responsible for my pet bunny Fuzzy)

Equity is being fair and impartial.

Here is a picture of me working:

I used the attitude of commitment when I was bored.I ended up deciding that I should listen (Although it was really boring talking about what we should do for like, 10 minutes) and do my work.
Anyways, I think this UNIT will be great! So far it is really fun (Although I am not very patient for the instructions) and interesting.
Thanks for reading!-Anna Ly

This week's info

I felt happy when I got a new teacher. I felt this because I wanted to have some change. I hoping to change the classroom by moving the chairs and desks.

I was interested in the book Ms. Carla was reading. (She is the new teacher) called "The potion dairies"

I found it hard to listen to my math group when we were fighting.
Next time, I will try to have less fighting and more work.

That's it!! Bye...

Tom Gates Book Review

Book Review By: Anna Ly Written by: Liz Pichon
Hey guys! Today I will do a book review on Tom Gates Absolutely fantastic (At some things)
Tom Gates is a boy who doodles a lot. He has an annoying sister named Delia. In this book he is supposed to goes on a school activity trip, but loses his form. He also draws and talks about friends and family.
I think this book is great. It is very fun and easy to read. (It has LOTS of pictures in it.)
The genre is humor. You can find it in a bookstore or library.
I would recommend this book to people who can read well.

Anna Ly’s christmas 2015

Hi! This is my story. It started of as a test. We were supposed to write a story in 30mins explaining something that happened to us. After that, Ms.Jenny (our teacher) told us that we should we were going to do a boot camp for 2 weeks improving our story. Here is my first draft. We drafted, revised, edited, and published. I changed lot's of stuff.

Anna Ly’s christmas 2015 One winter morning, Me and my sister walked to the tree, while yawning and groaning.
“The decorations look cool!” I thought to myself.
Me and my sister looked below the tree and saw…
Presents!! My sister shouted: “We better tell mom and dad!”
Both of us ran to our parent’s room. They were both stretching and yawning, it took them a while to get out of bed.
After we finally got mom and dad out of bed, we went to open the presents. My favorite present were the shopkins.
“Thank you so much!” I exclaimed.
My sister favorite presents was her Ben and Holly playset. She loved watching the series and she real…

Ellie Mcdoodle is a girl who has just moved. She misses all her friends in her old neighborhood, her house and school. She writes about all her feelings, school and her what’s going on in her life.
I think this is a greatbook to read. It is funny and you can imagine yourself in Ellie’s shoes.
